SCM20ASL Pro Active Studio Monitor

The SCM20ASL Pro MKII features the renowned ATC chassis manufactured in-house in England.
Particularly noteworthy is the new 25mm / 1" tweeter, which is being designed and installed by ATC for the first time in this form and represents the first-class result of six years of intensive research and development by Managing Director Billy Woodman and R&D engineer Richard Newman.
"The tweeter is designed and built with the same no-compromise philosophy as all previous ATC drivers," says Newman, and continues: "The design takes cues from the highly regarded in-house ATC midrange dome. By using a dual Suspension designs eliminate the need for dampening and drying ferrous fluid, which is a major benefit for the longevity and consistency of the drivers.The massive neodymium motor with heat-resistant top plate has also been optimized, allowing for a further extended frequency response lowest non-linear distortion is possible (-6 dB @ 26kHz) The geometry of the waveguide is chosen so thatthat optimal dispersion is achieved and the entire structure of this precisely machined alloy is extremely stiff and resonance-free."
The SCM20ASL Pro MKII features the proprietary ATC 150mm/6" super linear bass/midrange driver. With a combined 75mm/3" voice coil and long-slit short coil, this model combines high-power handling and low-power compression (which is usually only found in large, highly efficient monitor systems). the fine resolution and balance of modern high-fidelity systems. ATC's unique Super-Linear Technology effectively reduces the occurrence of third-order distortion in lower mid-range frequencies by using highly specialized materials in the electromagnetic circuit.
Significant development time has gone into completely redesigning the electronics of the active SCM20ASL to further minimize noise and distortion (another -10dB@10kHz ) and achieve generally higher reliability through a lower operating temperature. The amplifier design itself is a Revised version of the discrete ATC MOSFET Class A/B design with 200W and 50W continuous power for bass and high frequency section. The control options for the user have also been optimized compared to the previous generation. Flexible settings, eg for input sensitivity or bass cut/boost, offer optimal balance and adaptation to difficult room acoustics.
The monitor body has been redesigned to closely follow the larger ATC Studio models and is constructed from multi-braced and heavily stiffened MDF material. Heavily damped elastometric plates are attached to the inner walls of the cabinet to suppress internal resonances. The front panel of the cabinet is heavily rounded to reduce unwanted sound diffraction phenomena inside the cabinet, allowing for a more stable frequency response and finer spatial definition. The speaker can be wall mounted using a K&M 24120 Wall Bracket Kit, sold separately. Please note, however, that the monitor housing requires a further modification for this.
