SHUNYATA RESEARCH
EIGER-X Power Conditioner

RARIFIED AIR

The Eiger-X is a six-outlet power distributor based on the revolutionary Everest-X design platform. Eiger-X is more compact in stature with two fewer outlets, but possesses the same patented technologies that earned Everest-X its legendary status within the pro-recording and music industry communities.
Externally, the Eiger-X tower is shorter than its massive sibling, yet features a tour-de-force of patented science and custom engineered parts and materials. At the Eiger-X's core is the patented QRBB circuit, which delivers peak-energy to components more efficiently than they can receive it from the wall outlet. The QRBB circuit infuses sound with newfound energy, dimension and time accuracy, leading to the impression of effortless scale and dynamics in sound. The Noise Isolation Chamber and CCI filters in Eiger-X measurably lower noise, allowing previously obscured detail nuance to emerge from recordings. For the first time, the patent-pending TAPc has been added to the Eiger-X design. TAPc breaks up EMI noise, preventing it from distorting critical aspects of the recorded audio or video signal. TAPc adds a vivid sense of depth to reproduced sound in ways no other technology has even hinted at. Layering these technologies together eliminates multiple vectors of noise that would otherwise distract from the listening or viewing experience. Eiger-X sports two ground posts on its rear panel, both of which are connected internally to the Ground Plane Noise Reduction System (GPNR). The GPNR not only reduces ground plan noise for all connected electronics, but will also drop the noise floor for components plugged into a separate dedicated line and connected via ground cables.
Eiger-X's greatest two attributes are its scientific innovation and incendiary value, coming in at under half the cost of Shunyata Research's Reference tower model. Despite its dramatically lower price, Eiger-X retains a significant portion of Everest-X's most consequential technologies and performance. The design goal behind the Eiger-X was to create a power distributor at a real-world price that demonstrated the enormous impact Shunyata Research finest technologies have on system performance.

REACHING FOR THE SKY

Similar to Shunyata Research's larger power-distributor icon, Everest-X, Eiger-X reduces multiple forms of power-line noise, bringing a tactile presence to sound that adds a physically interactive element to the listening experience. When using Eiger-X as the power source there is an immediate and profound increase in background silence as instruments and voice emerge as more fully formed entities, free of distortions that will otherwise homogenize recordings. There is an immersive depth to the sound field as complex layers of sound become more organized, more distinct and accessible to the listener. There is an immersive quality to sound reproduction as both the recorded width and depth of recordings unfold and expand once fine layers of distortion are removed from the power line. The improved pitch articulation of instruments should also become more notable as the timing, or coming and going of transient energy becomes more accurate, more precise. This will be especially notable in the lower octaves, where air movement and impact of instruments are the easiest to notice. Overall, Eiger-X imparts a more seamless, coherent picture of how sound should be, without the inherent power-line and component generated noise that can otherwise become part of the audio signal itself. This is what separates Eiger-X from all other products at and far beyond its more modest price class.

GROUNDBREAKING TECHNOLOGY

TAPc (Transverse Axial Polarizer):

This patent-pending technology passively couples to the electromagnetic fields surrounding power and signal conductors. TAPc acts as a polarizer, reducing electromagnetic distortion, which often manifests as sonic harshness or visual blurring. The result is an audibly lower noise floor and an immediate improvement in timing and coherence.

QR/BB™ (Patent US 10,031,536):

A patented circuit that dramatically improves the dynamics and timing of amplifiers and other high-current components. QR/BB™ acts as a lightning-fast, local energy storage device (Coulomb charge) that compensates for the inductive reactance of the AC power line—entirely without the use of sound-degrading coils, transformers, or large capacitors.

GPNR (Ground Plane Noise Reduction):

An advanced filter system for the grounding conductor. It reduces high-frequency interference that contaminates the ground potential of audio and video systems. Components can also be connected directly to the GPNR filter via the chassis grounding system (CGS) connector for even more effective interference dissipation, bypassing the normal mains ground path.

KPIP v2™ (Kinetic Phase Inversion Process):

Shunyata Research's proprietary quantum burn-in process continuously treats the conductor materials at the atomic level for four days. This drastically reduces the break-in time in your home system and ensures a smooth, extremely vibrant, and natural sound reproduction from the very first minute. Version v2 offers a further significant performance improvement.

NIC™ (Noise Isolation Chamber - Patent US 8,658,892):

These patented chambers reduce high-frequency mains interference using a ferroelectric substance that absorbs the RF interference. Unlike conventional power conditioners, this is achieved completely without the negative, dynamic-limiting interactions of large transformers or capacitors.

CCI™ (Component-to-Component Isolation):

These multi-stage filters effectively prevent digital or analog interference from a device from spreading to adjacent components via the power strip. Cross-contamination is blocked without restricting the unimpeded pulse current delivery (DTCD®).

DTCD® Analysis (Dynamic Transient Current Delivery):

A measurement technique developed by Shunyata Research that precisely measures the short-term peak current flow through low-resistance conductors and contacts. This analysis makes it possible to optimize each component and material for maximum, lossless current delivery – a crucial technological advantage in the high-end segment.
