A Heritage Reimagined

Originally one of Britain’s top-selling speakers from 1965 through the late 1970s, the Linton made its celebrated return in 2019 as part of Wharfedale’s Heritage series. This modern incarnation, crafted with cutting-edge technology, surpassed expectations, quickly becoming Wharfedale's best-selling speaker and a global favorite. Its blend of classic aesthetics and exceptional sound has inspired a wave of nostalgic revivals across the industry.
Yet, Wharfedale’s design team, led by Peter Comeau, saw room for further refinement. Revisiting every detail, they crafted the upgraded Super Linton, pushing the design to new heights.

What’s New in the Wharfedale Super Linton?

While retaining the 20cm woven Kevlar bass driver of its predecessor, the Super Linton boasts a more powerful motor and stronger magnets, delivering enhanced attack, slam, and bass depth, reaching down to 32Hz.
The cabinet, 4cm taller than the original Linton, incorporates a sandwich design: MDF layered with fiberboard and dampened with latex-based glue. Internally, long-hair fibers and acoustic damping foam minimize resonances.
The midrange driver remains a 13.5cm woven Kevlar cone, now housed with graded fiber layers for superior back-wave absorption. A new tweeter, borrowed from the flagship Dovedale, enhances resolution with its fine fabric dome, damping material, and ceramic motor system. Its design ensures smooth frequency integration and expanded high-frequency dispersion.

Advanced Crossover Engineering

To complement the taller cabinet and improved drivers, the Super Linton features a revised crossover with air-core inductors for the midrange and tweeter. For the bass, a custom “Super-Power” laminated silicon-iron core inductor ensures optimized amplifier current delivery. High-quality components like polypropylene capacitors and LCOFC internal cabling further elevate performance.

The Wharfedale Super Linton, paired with its matching stands, will retail for €2299 per pair (€1999 without stands) starting December 2024.
