Founded by Bernard Coutaz in 1958, harmonia mundi is today the oldest independent classical music label in existence.

Though long focused on early music, it gradually diversified and today explores every repertory, from early music to the music of the twenty-first century. The recent creation of the labels WorldVillage, JazzVillage and finally LittleVillage (for children) has shown that the diversity and the spirit of open-mindedness and curiosity that characterized the label right from its foundation are still present today after sixty years of production.
